Good Shepherd’s proven model ensures a risk-mitigated investment opportunity with short-term return that prioritizes investor capital. We guarantee full funding of every project with our own money, but offer investors the chance to share in the financial success of our games.
This approach instills investors with confidence that the project will get to market, and creates a midstream investment model that delivers risk-mitigated, high velocity returns. Investments are used for game development, production, testing, language localization and PR/marketing activities.

The seminar was intended to address questions like:

You've been working on a big idea and need financing to get it going: but how do you go about raising your first round of funding? What's the difference between angel, seed, and VC investors? How do you go about valuing your company and deciding on equity?

In this tutorial I explain specifically what investors look for in mobile apps, how they like to invest, and how to get an investment for your mobile app, or at least how to increase the chances of getting an investment for your Android or iPhone application.

I also share my experience of going to investors, and getting their feedback. In the video I share what the investors told me about my apps, and why some of them chose not to invest in my apps.

In general, investors look for a few things. They look for an app or a product that is targeting a very large market. Large here means billion dollar markets. Investors also look for a proven team that has worked together before on successful projects that are preferably within the current niche of the business. Investors also look for growth. With apps especially, investors look for almost astronomic growth. My apps, for example,...

Slush 2015 in 100 Photos:

In 2015, Slush brought together 15.000 attendees, including 1.700 startups, 800 venture capital investors and 630 journalists from exactly 100 countries. People from more than half of the world’s countries traveled to the cold and dark Helsinki, with the ambition of taking their business to the next level.

Slush is a non-profit event organized by a community of entrepreneurs, investors, students and festival organizers. Although Slush has grown from a 300-person event to become one of the leading events of its kind in the world, the philosophy behind it has remained the same: to help the next generation of great, world-conquering companies forward.

After an 18-month surge to peak investment, the game financing market has stabilized with financing of game plays spread across four continents and from four classes of investors, with differing investment rationales that should be understood in seeking and securing equity capital for your game company. The majority of these investors are focused on a handful of flavors of the month, such as teams with prior success in games but no middling results in mobile, publishing deals thinly disguised as equity investment, etc. Eric Goldberg, who has participated in ~50 financings as an advisor or board member, outlines the practicalities of navigating the 2015-2016 financing landscape in a talk prepared in consultation with top-five game investors (by returns and capital deployed) from North America and from Europe. If capital matters to your games, attendance at this session should have a high return on investment.

Venture capitalists look for great companies with explosive growth in massive markets —a perfect description of a hot casual gaming company. And games have been just the ticket for some VCs who took the risk--King and Supercell were both high profile VC investments that exited in 2015 at multi-billion dollar valuations. Does that mean the VCs are looking aggressively to invest in the next billion dollar European game company? Or will they cede the field to super-angels and strategic investors?

Managing Director of Outsoft Michael Cheshire talks about investment opportunities in gaming and mobile gaming.

If you look at it from an investment standpoint you have a 9% annual growth within gaming itself, and if you take mobile into consideration, mobile itself is 18% growth. So if you're investing now, you're set to have some form of ROI in the next year to two years even if you're going for the short game. Personally I wouldn't, I would go for long game, the long game you've got things like Oculus Rift, and you've now got Sony doing Morpheus which is virtual reality, they are the next big things that hit the market and these are gonna be the next things that people will be investing in.

Managing Director of Outsoft Michael Cheshire talks about what you should be looking at as an investor in IT industry, particularly gaming studio or company.

If you want to be an angel investor and purely just to be a money man - anyone can do that. Personaly I'd recommend you come into the IT industry with an understanding of the IT industry, make sure you're aware of what stereotypical pitfalls befell people like time-to-market issues, like for example if people don't have enough local development. The world at the moment is restricted to how much you can develop because of the lack of developers in the local economies so when you come to places like Ukraine which has a much larger IT talent pool to countries like United Kingdom, France and Germany, it allows for example my clients to open doors to a more wider and more in-depth talent pool. The thing you have as an investor is you're always gonna look at you ROI. If I'm investing a million dollars I want to get up ten million dollars in any good sense or any good case. What I would be looking at as an investor is to invest in a company or a studio as most gaming companies are called that already has its own IP.
